Mission statement

E-mail Print PDF

We, the Motor City Supporters Group, declare the following purposes for our establishment, and goals and ambitions for the future of the Group:

We gather because watching professional soccer is fun, and even more fun watching it live.

To that end, we seek to grow our group in order to provide a large, frequent, recognizable and familiar presence at local soccer events.  We wish to be inclusive rather than exclusive, welcoming soccer fans of all nationalities and previously established national and club loyalties who wish to join us in our activities.

We seek to use our numbers and our actions to plant the seeds of a movement to establish a professional soccer team in Detroit at the highest possible level, to show that there is a genuine demand for live, professional soccer here, and that a professional team would be successful.

Both before and after that ambition is realized, we seek to demonstrate how supporting a soccer team is about providing constant, enthusiastic vocal support to a team, striving to show the same commitment to the success of our team off the field as we expect from the players on it, creating an emotional bond between the team and its supporters that is unique in American sports.

Our contributions and actions will be positive, tolerant, and inclusive. We do not seek to indulge in unnecessary constraints on the freedom of expression of our adult enthusiasm, and we do not deem it necessary to confine ourselves to language and behavior appropriate for young children, but we will not encourage or tolerate violence, racism, homophobia, or unduly hateful words or deeds.
