The Commissioner Speaks

E-mail Print PDF

So after the announcement that Montreal will be the 19th team in the league, a surprise to no one, Don Garber sat down and had a talk with Greg Lalas to discuss several topics.  The first topic being expansion beyond Montreal and the 20th team.  For the longest time MLS has stated that there will only be 16 teams...er umm 18 teams...well actually 20 and now we find out that there will be more after 20 but, how many?  Garber goes on to state that a second team in New York is the #1 priority for MLS and working with the Mets organization to make that happen.  This is not news and we don't care about NY2!  What we do care about is the list of other cities that he named for the next round of expansion.

Miami, Atlanta, St. Louis, DETROIT and maybe another team in Canada or something (I stopped listening after Detroit). Looks like there are things happening in the front office and they are taking notice of what we are doing here. Let's keep the momentum going and push for team #21 and give them no choice but to make it Detroit!! Are you putting the pressure on the league to bring a team here? Why not start writing emails, tweeting, and posting on Facebook. As always let your friends know and get them involved too and bring MLS to Detroit!!
